After watching the recent Presidential Address, I was left nothing short of hopeful. Not the type of hopeful that was carefully orchestrated pre-presidential election time, but the type of hopeful that made me want to genuinely help the president achieve his agenda. Not the agenda of the Illuminati or the other bullshit the “mad at lifers/conspiracy theorist” come up with; I’m talking about the positive agenda to create jobs and help add value to the nation in which I live.
As I listened, I stepped back, took a look at myself and realized nothing will happen expediently without the collective voice of people; and Obama isn’t our voice, that’s not his job, its ours. Yeah, everything he’s attempted hasn’t come to fruition and changed the world into a bed of roses where everyone is living the American dream, but the effort of his administration to bring about change has been tremendous. To carry that change over this political barrier, we must inject ourselves into the process. I don’t want to get real deep into it yet but i’m just saying, during that speech, I saw and heard the Quarterback I voted for, not the waterboy.
[side note] As a man, I have plenty other things to be focused on other than the petty politics in my government so the young rebellious cat inside me says “mannnnn fuck politics!”. But the father, the business owner, and the musician says “how can I help create a sustainable future for the things I’m vested in?”
